To this date, there has been no real discussion on US affiliates in the online gambling arena. Like online gambling, it’s always been a gray area. I just read this about the New York government wanting Amazon.com affiliates to be considered an extension of the company, which is based in Seattle, WA. Mainly for taxation purposes.

Some people are thinking that this case may set a precedence for online gaming affiliates as well. If affiliates are an extension of the company, then gaming affiliates will be considered gaming companies as well. This is just something to make note of. I won’t be losing any sleep over it any time soon.
Good thing that I sold my 100 shares of FXP on Wednesday. It’s down 4 points today, or 11.3%. Also, I just bought some VCLK. I’ve been watching this stock over the past month and The Fly just happened to mention it today, so I’m in. VCLK owns the affiliate marketing site CommissionJunction.com. I’ve been working pretty closely with cj.com because of Boogspace. The price of the stock is down from a high of $36 and change to $7.12 today. I was going for 1500 shares at $7.03, but only 800 got filled. the rest will be filled by the end of the day. If you’re in affiliate marketing, you know that Commission Junction pretty much owns a big piece of the market. I can’t say that their product is the best, but they do deal with the biggest online e-tailers out there, the ones without their own in-house affiliate sites.
Anyways, I’m not trying to sell VCLK here. As a matter of fact, I could care less what the company does. It’s just a little nugget in case you’re interested.
I’m still holding onto 500 shares of UYG and 1000 shares of UYM. UYM is up over 9% today, along with the rest of the market. I’m not gonna sell any of my longs just yet. Based on what I see, there should be plenty of time to get out. I do think that we will see lower prices in the stock market in the first half of 2009, so I know that I don’t want to be long for an extended period of time, but I am planning on riding this thing higher until the time is right.
I will talk more about how I did in 2008 in my “year in review” post, but from my calculations, I lost $11,312 in my trading accounts. Nothing to cry over, but not green either, so I can’t say that I’m too happy with the results. First year in 5 years that I’ve lost money. A little bit of a dagger, but I am optimistic.
Oh crap, I didn’t realize that the McClellan Oscillator was at +280! That kinda puts a damper on things. I probably shouldn’t be buying up here. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna cancel the rest of the 700 shares for VCLK and wait for a little pullback.
Anybody watch the FiELDS Dynamite MMA event on New Year’s eve? I caught some of it on replay. Shinya Aoki beat Eddie Alvarez in the first round by heel hook for the WAMMA lightweight title, even though BJ Penn is ranked at #1. Aoki called out UFC/Dana White/BJ Penn in his post fight speech. Pretty cool. Then, the Alistair Overeem fight. He’s been looking pretty sick lately. From what I’ve seen, he looks like he’s definitely one of the top 5 heavyweights in the world. I’d love to see him fight Fedor or Lesnar, but that probably won’t happen. BJ Penn vs. GSP at the end of the month…I can’t wait for that.

Alright, well, I’m heading up to AC today to play some poker. For 2009, I think I’m gonna start with a bankroll of $2k and keep it separate from all other earnings. I’m not sure if it will affect the way that I play or not, seeing a $5k wad of hundos, but perhaps it’ll entice me to play in some higher stakes games. Whatever. I think it’ll be good to see the product of my results every time I go play.
That’s about it for now. Have a good weekend. I will be counting hundos at the Borgata Cashier over the next few days.

NY city and state are both being such bitches with taxes lately. I’m glad Newegg.com told them to go f-ck themselves, I’ll be lifelong customer for that libertarian stance. Too bad amazon caved, but I don’t use them all that much.
Do you ever get comped any nights for the time at the poker tables in AC?
↓ Quote | Posted January 5, 2009, 8:12 pmI think I get like a buck or two in comp points, per hour at the poker table. I can’t get comped rooms anymore because I don’t play the table games.
